AccelMan – Windows Explorer Alternative for the Advanced User
Review by on
The regular computer user with simple needs can stick with Windows Explorer, the file management utility that comes built-into the Windows operating system. Windows Explorer is easy to use, works well, and can adequately address the basic needs of the regular computer user.

Advanced and pro computer users on the other hand will need something better than Windows Explorer. They’ll need a file management application that can deliver a lot more functionality. And this is where the Flexigen Software-developed application AccelMan comes in.

This is an alternative to the Windows Explorer that has the following to offer:
- Copy, move, compress, rename, delete, and perform other file management tasks in the background.
- Search for files
- View images within AccelMan (the application provides support for more than 30 image formats) and convert images (convert any image to JPEG, TIFF, GIF, PNG and BMP)
- TrueType fonts viewer
- Add, extract, view or play files directly from an archive. AccelMan provides support for ZIP, ZOO, RAR, ARJ, ARC, ACE, CAB, JAR, LHA, LZH, PAK, TAR, GZIP, BH, Install-Shield.
- Built-in media player that provides support for more than 30 multimedia formats.
- Split or merge files
- Hexadecimal editor
- The interface can be customized according to the user’s needs and preferences

Before you rush off to get AccelMan, check out these technical details:
Download – the download weighs in at around 5.5MB.
Installation – AccelMan provides support for Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Limitations – if you do not enter a registration key, you can use AccelMan free of charge only during a 30 day trial period. But if you enter a key, AccelMan is freeware. A key is provided by Flexigen Software here.

If you were looking for a powerful application to replace Windows Explorer, then you need to give AccelMan a try.

Pros
  • Freeware
  • Customizable interface
  • Built-in media player

Cons
  • Can take a bit of time to go through all its features and learn everything it can do
